Pourista is a pour-over coffee brewing app with optional bluetooth scale support. The app collects no personal data, sends none to the developer, and shares none with third parties.

The app has no internet access

Pourista does not request the android.permission.INTERNET permission. Without it, Android does not allow the app to open network connections. The app is technically unable to send data anywhere.

What is stored on the device

Everything below is stored only on the device, in the app's private storage:

• recipes — your own and the built-in ones, along with your edits;
• brew history: date, dose, water weight, timings, weight and flow-rate curves, plus the rating and notes if you entered them;
• app settings: language, theme, units, auto-finish options;
• grinder profiles you created;
• details of the last connected scale: device name and bluetooth address, so it can be reconnected;
• the scale communication log — only if you turned it on yourself in the settings.

Bluetooth and permissions

• Bluetooth is used only to talk to kitchen scales: finding nearby scales, connecting, and reading weight. The app receives nothing over bluetooth other than scale readings.
• Location access is requested only on Android 11 and older, and only because those versions do not allow scanning for bluetooth devices without it. The app does not determine, store, or use your location. On Android 12 and newer the permission is not requested at all: the scan is declared with the neverForLocation flag.
• Vibration — cues for the pouring steps.

The app works fully without scales: a recipe with a step-by-step timer needs none. Bluetooth permissions are requested only when you tap to search for scales yourself.

When data leaves the device

Only on your explicit action, and only where you send it:

• a backup of recipes and history — a file you save yourself;
• a recipe sent to someone as a .pour file;
• the scale communication log, sent via "Share";
• a brew chart image, sent via "Share".

Where such a file ends up — a messenger, cloud storage, email — is your choice, and from that point it is governed by the rules of the service you picked. The app writes these files to a temporary folder and never sends them on its own.

Android backup

The app uses Android's standard backup. If backup is also enabled in your device settings, the system may copy the app's data into your Google account backup so it can be restored on a new device. That copy is handled by Google under its own rules; the developer of Pourista has no access to it. It can be turned off in the device settings.

Ads, analytics, third-party services

The app contains no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no embedded libraries that collect data about the user. No account is required and there is no sign-up.

Children

The app is not intended for or directed at children. It collects no data from children — as it collects none at all.

Deleting your data

All data lives on the device. You can remove it from Android settings: Apps → Pourista → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the app. Brew history and recipes you created can also be cleared inside the app. There is no deletion request to send to the developer, and none is possible: the developer does not hold this data.

Changes to this policy

A new revision is published on this page with a new effective date.
